Nicola Forshaw - Meet your counsellor

Meet your counsellor

Welcome,

I’m Nicola, a counsellor based in Reading, working online with clients across the UK.

Therapy with me is gentle, compassionate and guided by curiosity. A space to slow down, turn inward, and listen closely to the parts of yourself that rarely get a chance to speak.

Whatever you’ve been finding hard to carry, there’s space for it here.

Space to arrive, just as you are.

Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, exploring what’s happening now in your life, and perhaps making sense of your past.

Uncertainty, anxiety, stress, relationship struggles – whatever has brought you here, I bring openness and care to our work, so you don’t have to face it alone.

Whatever you’ve been finding hard to carry,
there’s space for it here.

My story

How it started…

My journey to becoming a counsellor began over 15 years ago when I sat in the therapy chair for the very first time. Not as a therapist, but as someone who needed support.

I remember telling my therapist that I hoped, one day, to help people the way they had helped me. They handed me a book that had once guided them, and I’ve kept it ever since.

The book is called How Can I Help? The title says everything about why I do this work. Because for me, it’s always been about supporting people in a genuine and meaningful way.

And now, all these years later, I’m in the other chair – a counsellor supporting people who need help in finding their way through.

Whether you’re navigating something happening right now or making sense of past hurts, there’s space for all of it here.

Ready to begin?

Reach out so we can learn more about each other – I’ll answer any questions you have, and together we can decide whether working together feels right for you.

we can move through it together.

My approach

Integrative, relational and shaped by you

My therapy approach is integrative.

I can support you with what’s happening in your life right now, explore how the past may still be shaping your present, and help you to move forward in a way that feels meaningful to you.

My work is relational and trauma-informed, and I bring gentle curiosity and compassion to everything we explore together.

A collaborative relationship,
at your pace.

How We Work Together

A collaborative relationship, at your pace.

Therapy with me takes place online, so you can access support from wherever feels comfortable – at home or somewhere private – from anywhere in the UK.

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, at a regular time.

The fee is £60 per session.

To begin, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call. An opportunity to ask any questions, share a little of
what’s brought you here, and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit.

I’ll answer any questions you have about the process before you decide whether to go ahead.
